[ Episode 19: We Shall Survive by Whatever We Do]

With Simon now incarcerated, the traitor Rossiu brings him to “trial”.

I find it funny how they still had to rely on the man they’re locking away to defeat the Anti-Spirals that attacked. Now that they have locked him away, Rossiu (and Kinon who is blindly supporting him) will realize just how worthless they are without Simon and Gurren Lagann in the end even with upgraded Grapals. I also am disgusted at the things Rossiu said about Kamina (basically saying that it’s good that he’s dead), seizing all power for himself, and his sentence of death (for war crimes) for Simon. I’m not surprised that more and more people have already begun to dislike/hate him after seeing this episode and they are many from what I’ve been observing. While I do realize that Rossiu’s plan is sound in some ways the way he’s going about it isn’t right nor is it decent and Kittan and the other Gurren-Dan members are the only ones who don’t see Rossiu as God and can see the wrong in his actions. I’m beginning to wonder if betraying Simon was always in his plan to seize power and recent events just accelerated his plan which seems to include a new “just as planned” element: That is, sentencing Simon to death.

Anyways, onto more awesome things. Kittan seems to have a good subplot going on between himself, Kinon, and Rossiu so it’ll be interesting to see where that goes in the next episode. Nia still has her ring and I think that suggests that Simon can still help her return to her original self. I’m wondering when it’ll happen though. Before they leave for space or during their space adventure and thus becoming a motivator for Simon to press on? The next episode seems to focus on Simon and Viral in prison. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens between the two since the preview suggests they’re going to fight it out at least a bit (and I’m sure I saw Viral kicking the Kellogg’s Cornflakes chicken…).
