Claymore ep. 18

[ Scene 18: The War in the North I ]
24 Claymore all in one place? *faints*

This episode marks the beginning of one of the most epic and best arcs in all of Claymore. It’s a personal favorite of mine and in my opinion doesn’t disappoint in the slightest from beginning to end. Miria, Clare, Helen, and Deneve all reunite and Jeane joins them as a new comrade with similar experiences (awakening and pissing off the organization). Seeing 24 Claymore all in one place is definitely a sight to behold and one would wonder just how many of them possess skills on par with our outlaw girls. One of them is definitely Flora with her Quick Sword technique, that’s for sure. Her voice though was softer than I expected it to be…not that I’m complaining. Undine’s voice was pretty much more or less what I thought it would sound like. It’ll be a treat to see how they take out these three Awakened Beings. I’m reasonably sure no one is going to die in this first battle as well.
I loved the cliffhanger endings they’ve been doing lately, especially the one for this episode. I await the next episode with glee.

They screwed up the reunion in the cave. In the manga, they were out of their armor and it seemed like a much more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I guess it’d makes sense they’d like to be battle ready and all, but it’s little things like that that make a scene perfect.
Also the one Awakening Being that sounded like he wanted to rape everyone, he wasn’t like that in the manga. He was looking forward to making potentional comrades, which probably would have amounted to the same thing, but it seemed out of place. There’s alot to be said for inneundo I guess.
They changed a couple other things around, nothing major or ruinous. I guess the worse part of making an anime is that you’ve got 20 minutes. No more, no less. I’d be curious as to what was actually produced but cut from the final TV-draft. Knowing if there was anything additional that could be thrown into the mix would effect my decision to buy a DVD-set.
Not everyone was out of their armor in the manga, Clare and Jeane were still inside of theirs and never took them off. I suppose they altered it for the sake of continuity (questioning how Miria, Helen, and Deneve got back into their armor so fast).
The Awakened Being (first one in) was pretty much the same in both the anime and manga. He never once mentioned looking forward to making comrades from all the translations I’ve read and still had the innuendo present in his words.
