Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep. 3

[ Episode 3: Fly Past That Country ]

Enter! Kimura Kaere and Maria! How will despair come over you?

This show gets increasingly funnier with each passing episode. I completely lost count of how many times I laughed in this episode. Quite a few of them were delayed ones as well. In this episode we’re introduced to two new girls: Kimura Kaere and Maria. Both are foreigners and each have their own “problems”, just like the girls before them. Kimura Kaere has two personalities, a Japanese one (Kaede) and a foreign one (Kaere). Her Japanese persona is so cliche that it hurts to laugh so hard about the way she behaved (hiding behind curtains and speaking softly just to name a few). Her foreigner persona is much more bold and has a tendency to want to sue people for sexual harassment (insert huge freaking laugh here). Oh, and did I mention she wears strawberry panties? XD

Maria made me laugh so hard I nearly cried. In short, Maria is a clear cut illegal immigrant. Yup, that’s right. An illegal immigrant who lives with a huge amount of people in one small room. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei touches on various issues about her such as how everyone complains about a foreigner enters into the country illegal but when money is involved then they stop caring about their so-called intrusion. Then there’s the parts where everyone felt they had to protect her and donate money and other items to her. I’m sure most are familiar with this type of behavior in these situations of when a person who is different from the norm enters into the society. Especially one as cute as Maria.

There were quite a few hilarious references in this episode as well. The most notable ones are of course from Death Note, Dragon Ball Z, and at the very end of the show a reference to Kimura Kaela’s music video “level 42″ done by…well…Kaere. :D

Surely, if I had to rate this episode, it’d get a 10/10. :P

To me this is the funniest show since Azumanga. My favorite part was at the end where Maria talks about how kind people in Japan are.

I wonder if and when there will be any actual plot. From the web page there are 4 more girls to be introduced, so maybe the story will pick up in episode 6.

I didn’t catch the Death Note, but the Phoenix Wright: Justice for All reference cracked me up.
