[ Scene 17: The Witch's Maw III ]
Naked Jean GET!
It was such a treat seeing Jean’s special technique animated. I wondered a few times how they’d pull it off and it was impressively done. I also enjoyed watching the teamwork unfolded between Galatea, Jean, and Clare. It brings fond memories back of the Slashers arc. I thought that Riful’s [lovely] awakened form was animated very well. Not to mention they managed to thoroughly show off just a tiny bit of her massive power. I can’t help but love her character and can’t wait to see her again.
The episode ended on a very cliffhanger note with a number of Claymore going up against some of the hugest Awakened Beings to date. The next arc, The North War, is going to be undoubtedly awesome with so many Claymore gathering in one place. I can’t wait!

I think they animated her attack wrong or maybe even the manga since I haven’t seen those pages yet. It looked like she had hundreds of revolutions, and that’s just not possible with only 21 corkscrews. The idea of a drill arm is not necessarily a bad one, but just because it’s got a set up time doesn’t excuse the fact that it’s ridiculious in what it can do.
Like if it were me explaining her attack, she should use it more like a fierce jab in fencing. Finese it a bit, time the release of the tension so that the maximum number of revolutions occur in the shortest amount of time as possible just as you hit your target. It boosts both the penetrating power and the duration of the attack if you hit just as it’s at it’s strongest.
That’s just me though. If they want to give Jean a Rasengan or Giga Drill Break, that’s their business. It’s not in line with how Claymore’s been up til now, with tentancles, swift movements, sharp cutting attacks. Her character’s a bit lame for it though.
Anyway, was this the Jean episode or does she get more developement in the upcoming ones?
She’ll have a bit more development I suppose as the next few episodes come in but I wouldn’t expect too much.

How come Jean was able to withstand the torture session? I thought it might because she had good regen, but when she was calming Clare down, she said she was an offensive type. She had alot of spikes in her and even if she had a powerful presence of mind, that won’t help keep you alive.
P.S. I wonder if they drew straws when distributing scavanged abilities or was it simply first call first serve? :lmao
