Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep. 2

[ Episode 2: White at the End of the Tunnel ]
How will despair affect two of Itoshiki’s students: Komori and Matoi?

I absolutely loved this episode. I read the chapters last week and laughed so much. This episode managed to amplify that laughter by further fleshing out what I had already read. What I love about this series is that it manages to single out the negativity in the world and pokes fun at them. Yes, it’s quite dark when you look at some of the themes present but the jokes far outweigh any seriousness that they may bring.
The two main girls involved in this episode are Komori and Matoi. One an extreme hikikomori and the other a super stalker. Both of their problems are relatively common these days and so the jokes in this episode should reach out to almost everyone. Itoshiki’s constant thoughts on suicide doesn’t help the situation either and further drags hilarity into the mix. Because of this he manages to gain the affections of both Komori and Matoi by “confessing” to them which involves him telling them he’d gladly die along side of them (in Matoi’s case he had previously explained it to be the ultimate expression of love). Also, Fuura just makes you want to fall to the floor and laugh until your lungs hurt. You can’t really call her dense but I’d probably call her “blind to the obvious”. Oh yes, and Chie is awesome. I don’t know how she deals with Itoshiki but she should be applauded. She’s also pretty freaking scary with her eyes.
As the series progresses more and more girls will be introduced in similar manners, each with their own problems. I can’t wait for the next episode!

X3 I swear, this is the best show this season. It’s just too funny to miss. I’d usually hate such a surreal anime, but… this one, nope!
One of the weakest shows this year, both graphically and content-wise.
Without a shadow of a doubt the best anime of the summer and by far.
I dunno, I’ve seen the first 2 eps, and I find it mildly entertaining, but most SHAFT shows I find a lot better then this(except crappy Negima?! ofcourse OTL).
It’s a watchable show, but certainly not as good as Potemayo, Higurashi Kai and School Days imho.
Schooldays is my 2nd favorite!
But seriously I really like the characters in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
This show is just fascinating.
