[ Episode 1: Chura Umi! ]

Boobs! Boobs! Boobs! Boobs!

[ Opening Sequence ]

I quite liked the OP. It’s one of those “fun in the sun” type songs in my opinion and is always a blast to listen to.

Naked swimming. Bouncing breasts. Wet skin. Green hair. That pretty much sums up everything that was shown in the first episode. You’re either going to love this show because of it’s content and feel great afterwards or be distracted and feel dirty at the end. For me, it would seem that I would fall into the former category. Why? Because I love this show!

Umisho is about a guy who can’t swim because of an encounter with a mermaid in his past that left him traumatized. Yet, in the present, he’s the manager of the school’s swim team that just happens to have twelve young and fresh girls as members. One of which is the captain of the team, his senpai, Orizuka Momoko. Skipping and forward; enter Ninagawa Amuro. A wide-eyed, green-haired, energetic-as-hell girl who makes you smile so wide it hurts. She’s super genki and a natural at swimming. Speaking of swimming, her preferred swimsuit of choice is none other than her bare naked body! Anyways, upon her arrival she wastes no time becoming friends with Okiura (he’s the male lead) and Momoko and even swims with Momoko but ends up knocking herself out. The episode closes at Amuro’s floating home where Okiura and Momoko visited and thus hilarity and breast-hugging ensued.

Yes. Some people may call Umisho a show with shameless fanservice but that’s one of the reasons why I love it. The animators pulled no punches with the bouncing breasts, and their shining effects. I find the apparently nose-less faces quite cute and the overall characters are very nice, especially Amuro’s and Momoko’s (hurt me! xD). Okiura’s trauma will probably come to light about halfway through the series or so but I’m sure we already have a strong clue as to who the said mermaid was that tried to pull him down into the water (hint: she had bright green hair). I won’t say the obvious but you should know already what I mean.

Oh, I almost forgot about the jokes. I loved the majority of them. In fact I don’t remember disliking or not getting any of them. I especially loved when Amuro brought the shark as a present on her arrival (which was still alive much to Momoko’s horror) and Maki’s (the first year) huge face at the beginning of the episode (that had me laughing so hard). Overall, this is a damn fun show that shouldn’t be missed this summer.

I’ll definitely be continuing with this series until the end.

[ Ending Sequence ]

Like the OP, the ED is a pretty nice song. The animation is just slides of all the characters but that’s not a bad thing.
