Seirei no Moribito ep. 10

[ Episode 10: Soil and Hero ]

Chagum and Tohya take to the streets and along the way encounter some gambling fraudsters but Balsa isn’t too far behind them…

This is basically a Tohya and Chagum episode. The former is teaching the latter how to be an errand boy. Well, it’s more like he’s trying to get Chagum to think as a commoner. Which is really Balsa’s intention and not Tohya’s by the way.

Tohya and Chagum head into the city to do some errands. Their first stop is at a stall that sells some sweets which they managed to purchase for less than the original price with some teamwork. It was quite impressive in my opinion, especially since it was Chagum’s first time doing such a thing. Next they end up at a gambling table where Tohya tries his luck but fails. However, Chagum says that he thinks that the dealer can decide the outcome of the game (the game involves three coins that can either face up [white face] or face down [black face aka the house wins all].

Of course, Chagum and Tohya proceed to take on the dealers and expose them as fraudsters. I was actually a bit worried at the end since the game was up to pure chance then and Chagum had put his necklace on the line. Oh well, I assume he had enough confidence to take the bet since it was fair and square. I also liked how Balsa was quite close to them overseeing their activities. For some reason, that gave off a really strong motherly/sisterly aura. Overall, there wasn’t really any plot progression in this episode but there was a lot of character development on Chagum’s part.

I think I’ll watch this one again. Chagum’s a real champ.
