Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Toward the Terra ep. 10

[ Episode 10: Planet of Escape ]

Return of Jomy! Soldier Shin!

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who has deep thoughts about this wonderful anime.

Well, well. If it isn’t Swena. I’m glad to see that she’s back in the series even if she isn’t with Keith and Sam at the moment. Speaking of Sam, he wasn’t anywhere to be seen in this episode. The same goes for Keith. Though I suppose he’s already become so high calibur that he may have left Sam behind.

At least though, Jomy has returned! Or should I say Soldier Shin? That’s a pretty cool title in my opinion. Man, time has really been flying in this series. It’s already been eight years since the Mu left for Terra. I’m guessing that this means it has been a four year gap between this episode and the last? I could see that Swena has sure matured yet again into a beautiful woman (her husband is absent though, so I guess she divorced?). She seems to be up to some very interesting things such as researching about “Moby Dick” or in other words, the Shangri-La.

I enjoyed seeing Jomy around again. He seems to have spent a lot of time earning the trust and respect of every Mu on the Shangri-La. I had to laugh though we the realization of making children “the natural way” dawned upon him though when he was talking with the “children” (they’re actually quite grown-up but because there is no one younger than them they are called that). I suppose that in an environment where you’re taught otherwise in regards to childbirth it isn’t as easy as we ourselves may think to take the initiative on such a thing. Two of the “children” even manage to confess to one another their love. I can only imagine that its the start for the rest of the Mu (all of this while Jomy and the others had finally reached a red planet where they decided to settle down). It makes me wonder though if Jomy will be apart of this new wave of Mu thought in regards to childbirth. One girl is already interested in him it seems and even said she’d like nothing better than to have his children. I suppose it’ll take a while before we’re able to see if she plays any further role along side Jomy.

This episode really showed me another side of Toward the Terra. I can’t exactly put my finger on it but I do know that this show has gone way past my expectations. It has very interesting characters who all have their own strengths and weaknesses and are respected and trusted by their own kind of people. I can only wonder what’ll happen in the future when Jomy finally encounters Keith. It’s going to be one hell of an event, that’s for sure.

Next episode seems to be about exploration of the red planet, Nazca. Sam also seems to arrive on that very planet and even meets Jomy but something seems wrong with him….

I’m not blogging this series (or any other, really), but I am grateful to those of you that do so.

Regarding Jomy’s love life: at this point I don’t see anyone with whom he’s developed a deep friendship yet, let alone a romance. The girls’ feelings seem like crushes at this point. There are clearly several men and women that admire Jomy, or are in some way attracted to him (not necessarily romantically) like Leo, the kids, and Captain Hartley.

I also feel that many of the Mu do not yet love/respect/admire Jomy for _himself_. Note the comments of having faith in him because Soldier Blue did. I think Jomy’s relationship with the Mu as a whole has not yet ripened. I do hope that future events will allow that devotion to grow (perhaps after some dark events first).

    Cheers,

    Songster

Ah yes, I somehow forgot about the “having faith in Jomy because Soldier Blue did” thing. You’re right, it probably isn’t a good start but it’s a start nonetheless. I suppose this venture to the new planet, Nazca, will play a vital role in how Jomy grows in the eyes of the Mu, both young and old.

Gotta say I agree with the romantic angle so far. There doesn’t seem to be anyone I’d call “on level” with him currently. Hmmm, maybe Swena perhaps?

Actually, its been another 8 years since Shiroe died, and 12 years since they left Jomy’s home planet the captain said. So yea another huge timeskip. So I guess Jomy and his friends are 26 now o-O Karina and her friends who were like little 6 year old kiddies in ep 2 are now in their late teens.
