[ Episode 9: What is a person?]

With Kamina gone, Simon, Yoko, and the rest of the Dai Gurren Dan try to cope…and along the way, Nia appears!

Well, well, they went and changed the OP sequence. Not that I didn’t expect it but they did more than I thought they would. Even the episode title screens are different as a result of Nia now being in the main cast. She even does the previews now. As for Nia, she really seems pretty sheltered and innocent. She didn’t know what outside was nor what a person was. That is, she never saw anyone else like her aside from herself and her father. Her father is the Helix King and is apparently human. Now I’m definitely interested in how that can be. How is it that a human is the creator and ruler of all the beastmen? I’d like to know the explanation for that as it does seem quite interesting.

Simon was acting the way I expected him to be. The same applies to Yoko. Simon, of course, is taking it much harder and is in what I’ve observed some people across message boards call “emo-mode”. Well, I’ll say that he’s upset, that’s for sure but he’s also now unnecessarily reckless. As for Simon and Nia, I can’t say for sure what will occur between them but it does seem she’ll enter into his life as a possible love interest along with Yoko.
