[ Episode 8: Farewell, comrades!]

FAREWELL KAMINA! MAY WE MEET AGAIN IN THE HEAVENS! *cries manly tears*

And with this episode, amidst all of the wonderful scenes of destruction we lost an irreplaceable member of the Dai Gurren Dan: The leader himself, Kamina. Somehow, I still can’t believe it but he’s gone. Even so, he didn’t go out lamely but instead went out with a huge bang: Delivering the Giga Drill to that lame ass Big Four member!

Also, did it seem like Simon was going to confess to Yoko at the beginning? I think it’s made obvious after he went off running after seeing Kamina and Yoko kiss. Poor guy, he got done in pretty badly in this episode. Losing his chance to get the girl and losing his closest friend in the entire universe. This is going to be bad on his psyche for a while I think. The same goes for Yoko. After finally confessing and hoping for his survival her hopes were shattered right before her eyes. Both of them were hit pretty hard….

I look forward to the future episodes quite a bit now. There’s a lot of questions as to where the series is going to go in my own mind. Such as when Simon will become the leader of the Dai Gurren Dan among others. Even when Kamina was living we only had a vague idea of where they were headed but now it’s even more unclear aside from them going to the capital.

Lastly, Kamina will forever be one of the most memorable characters in anything and everything I’ve ever seen. It’s been a great ride with such an awesome character.
