Seirei no Moribito ep. 8 ~ An Interesting Tale

[ Episode 8: Swordsmith ]

Sit down and listen.

Well now, this was quite the interesting episode. The majority of it took place inside the smithy’s place. Despite that I found it to be highly enjoyable. I’ve always wondered about how one would go about pulling off an entire episode that happens in one particular spot but I suppose I don’t have to wonder any longer. There weren’t that many characters shown in this episode either aside from Balsa, Chagum, the smithy, and the two royal guards.

I was really on edge when the smithy told the guards to get their swords from the room Balsa and Chagum were hiding in. Though I did breathe a sigh of relief after the old man had started to tell a tale to the guards that sounded so similar to Balsa’s situation. If I’m not mistaken, it sounds as if he was speaking of Balsa’s past by the way she reacted to him speaking of the tale.

In the end though, I really liked this episode. Hearing a tale like that gets my imagination going and makes it seem like I was right there in the blacksmith shop listening to it. Next episode seems to be about Shuga starting a search for Chagum or at least trying to convince others that he’s still alive somewhere. All I can say is that he really seems to have cared for Chagum like a brother if the length’s he’s going to is any indication.
