Dennou Coil ep. 3

[ Episode 3: Yuuko and Yuuko]

And yet awesome episode of Dennou Coil goes by. I often find myself wishing that this show didn’t have to end after 23 minutes passing but I guess all good things (in Dennou Coil’s case, great things) must come to an end some time.

In this episode we find out the identity of the strange girl who appeared for a bit in episode one and then again in episode two. Her name is Yuuko. Yup. She has the same name as the main character. I suppose she’ll be called Isako to avoid confusion.

Continuing with last episode, the chase goes on until Mega-ba’s back goes out. As such she sends Kyoko to do the job of zapping the Mojos but, as expected, she goes around zapping random things and totally forgets about them. Densuke manages to get caught by the Mojos though I have to say he made a great effort. Seriously, who would think that these furballs have the power to capture you in a capsule? I sure as hell wouldn’t expect it until I saw it happen.

Later on after Fumie, Yuuko, and Oyaji manage to track down Densuke and take him from the Mojos, two Satchii’s appear. Two? What’s the purpose of having two, I wonder? It seems as if Isako knew something about the reason for there being two of them but she didn’t elaborate on it any further. Speaking of which, I wonder what happens if a human gets zapped from a Satchii? The Mojo that was zapped seemed to have been erased all together but according Fumie in the previous episode getting zapped by one of them would just take a lot of data away from you. I wonder if someone will eventually get hit from one of them….

Anyway, the high points of the episode were definitely when both Yuuko’s were running away from the Satchii’s and the scenes that took place in that abandoned building. This is where Isako took Densuke and after his tag timer ran up, he and the Illegal were separated. Isako chases after it and traps it and proceeds to use a strange key to “unlock” it. However, this causes the entire Space to start quaking and cracking up all over the place and eventually lets to the Illegal being destroyed. Very interesting. I’m not sure what she was trying to do but I really do want to know more about her character and her ways of interacting with the Space.

I also found it interesting that Isako doesn’t need to use metatags. Though I’m sure this is because she is, what Fumie calls, an Encoder. I’d like to know just how Encoders work and if her abilities go beyond just making quick shrines and barriers. I found it hilarious at the very end of the episode when she entered the very same class that Yuuko and Fumie are in. She just made it easier for them to investigate her now xD. Or did she? :P
