Claymore ep. 9 ~ Oh Miria! I
[ Scene 09: The Slashers I ]
And so after last week’s awesome yet saddening ending we return to the present with Clare and Raki on their way to a town for Clare’s new mission…
Who am I kidding with that opening? This episode debuts the appearance of one of my absolute favorite Claymores! Miria! 
I loved the way the animation team pulled off this episode. Everything was done just right. The atmosphere from beginning to end matched the entire episode and the pacing was just as I predicted it be given the manga material they used. One of my most favored parts of the episode were the introductions of Miria, Helen, and Deneve. Their seiyuu definitely gave their characters justice and I must praise Inoue Kikuko (Miria; also famous for her role Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess, and is one of my favorite seiyuu of all-time), Nagasawa Miki (Helen) and Takeda Hana (Deneve). I don’t think they could’ve casted them any better than they already are. Helen is a freaking riot and Deneve as serious as ever and of course, Miria sounds quite authoritative and yet respectful.
This episode is probably an eye-opener for many because I know it was for me when I first read it in the manga. Our beloved Clare is the lowest ranked and thus the weakest of the Claymore? How can this be? Well, even then I wasn’t totally convinced that she was as such but at that time I did meet one of my highest favorite characters in the series: Miria. As Number Six I am confident that she’s quite powerful though in the situation their party is in right now…it might not seem too evident as yet. I’m so freaking excited for the next couple of episodes because a lot of awesome things are going to take place in this Slashers arc.

This episode was really dark. And I mean by lightening. I could only make out their heads and the suits most of the time.
And it seems to me the only thing that isn’t standard issue for Claymores is footwear.

And yeah the episode was dark. It wasn’t that bad for me though.
You know, looking at that one screenshot of Miria after getting cut makes me think she was hit by a waterballoon full of blood. Like “Ow! Who threw that!?”
Leon, wait until you see Miria with her hair tied.
Then again, the anime might not get to that part unless it expands for a second season. Eh…
@aurabolt: Ah yes, I’ve seen her hair tied in the manga some time ago. She looks cute that way.
Something about those authorative types that is just so sexy, especially when encased in skintight clothing, standing in the rain…:D Although Deneve and Helen are sexy in their own rights - Clare has to lv up a bit more.
Also seems that the higher ranked they are, the more generous their body proportions. I mean, look at Teresa, Irene, Sophia, and Noel from days gone by. Heck, even Priscilla… Poor Clare - yet another reason to lv up - Raki might be the type to go for women with big busts.
