LIAR GAME ep. 1

[Episode 1]

[Enjoyment Value: 9.5/10]

It’s been quite a while since I sat down and picked up a drama to watch. So, I decided to go ahead and pick one that stars none other than Toda Erika, the cutie herself that portrayed Misa in the Death Note movies and Matsuda Shota, of Hana Yori Dango fame. Not only that but this drama is based on the manga of the same name. Is it good? Damn good? Awesome? Continue reading on and you’ll soon find out.

D.Gray-man ep. 27

[Episode 27: My Master, General Cross]

[Enjoyment Value: 8/10]

[Thoughts]

Hilarious. That’s what most of this episode was when it came to Allen talking about Cross. The guy really had it hard. Working so that Cross could just spend his hard earned money on women and alcohol. Not to mention he had to endure the debts Cross made which eventually led him to learn how to gamble. That’s where Allen’s true dark side comes out and I laugh every time I see it. The latter half of the episode deals with the first time Allen fought and killed an Akuma. It was pretty sad that it had to be one (or should I saw two) friends though.

As for the next episode, it’s pretty much original since I’m quite sure there is no chapter in the manga that had Krory fighting a frog Akuma lol. Oh yes, as for my thoughts on the new OP/ED, I liked them quite a bit. Though I like the OP more than the ED, which is also my least favorite ED of the three so far.

D.Gray-man ep. 26

[Episode 26: The End Begins]

[Enjoyment Value: 8/10]

[Thoughts]

Man, this episode was as creepy as I thought it would be. Or at least, that goes for the part involving General Yeagar (especially when he was singing that song of the Earl’s about the Heart). I liked how the anime expanded on his story and gave him even more spotlight than in the manga. Though, I have to say that he really got done in bad by Road and Tyki. Well, at least this signals the start of things getting really good even if there are some more deviations from the manga in the future. I’m just curious as to where they’ll end up eventually.

There’s one thing I noticed in the new opening though, and that’s that other Noah. I remember her vaguely from the manga (which I think was in volume 3) but I haven’t seen her since then. Since they include her in the OP I guess that means the anime is going to be using her a lot more than the manga has so I”m interested in seeing where they go with that. Last time I checked she didn’t have a name either.

Funimation picks up One Piece!

It was a dark and stormy night.

The Going Merry was tossed and turned in the rolling waves, and the Straw-Hat pirates were thrown back and forth. One Piece, the anime phenomenon in Japan – whose original manga by Eiichiro Oda broke sales records, whose TV series is among Japan’s best rated, and whose made billions in merchandise – was sinking in America. Licensed by 4Kids Entertainment, it was transformed from a teen show to a series safe for 7-year-olds – any scene with a hint of violence was removed, as well as several full episodes (so that 4Kids turned 143 episodes of the Japanese version into 104); dialogue was totally rewritten; characters – main characters – were given wacky, horrible accents. And then 4Kids announced they were no longer creating their version of One Piece, and the Going Merry seemed lost at sea.

Land ahoy.

FUNimation has exclusively confirmed to animeOnline that they are taking charge of Luffy and his crew, and sailing them to newer, less troubled waters. In this feature, FUNimation reveals their plans for the new TV version of One Piece, along with the fate of the long-hoped-for uncensored DVDs. So fans of the Straw-Hat pirates can breathe easy – this treasure won’t be buried for much longer.

—————

Thank God One Piece is going into capable hands now. I really do hope they re-dub episodes 1-143 whenever they can because I’d hate to not have the uncut versions of those episodes. It’s good to know they’ll be using a new cast as well so that means no more horrible sounding Strawhats (hopefully). It’ll be so nice to see English One Piece without those ridiculous censors and thank goodness they received the license in time, otherwise the Skypeia arc would’ve been ruthlessly censor-raped.
