[Thoughts]

This was a nice build-up episode. The part with Shuga and the Holy Sage was lengthier than I expected it to be but I didn’t mind it too much since a lot of new information was revealed during their conversation. Such as Chagum being possessed by a water fiend…which would explain how he and Balsa were protected in that raging river in the first episode.

There wasn’t any real action in the episode except for the very last minute resulting in a cliffhanger ending. I really wanted to see Balsa show her fighting skills against some real warriors in this episode but I don’t mind waiting until the next to see her kick some ass. Though I wonder just how good she will be considering she has four strong-looking warriors to deal with.

I’m glad to see that the animation is still as beautiful as it was in the previous episode (there were a lot of dark scenes compared to the colorful ones in the first episode). The amount of detail in animation is just so amazing that I hope it continues to impress.
