The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Character Song Vol.8+9
Notice how Kyon’s and Haruhi’s CD covers are the only ones whose Character Song CDs have their image positioned on the left while all the other characters have theirs on the right. Nice touch.
Well ain’t this a treat. I was expecting this tomorrow morning but eh, Japan’s already there right? Ahaha~
So they’re finally here. Long overdue (though never really expected until Kyon’s Sister), we can now plug our ears into the voices of Itsuki (Ono Daisuke) and Kyon (Sugita Tomozaku) as they um… express themselves in song…
Now I don’t know about you, but I like Itsuki’s CD. The first song was entertaining and I didn’t think I’d be hearing the other characters in there like Yuki or Mikuru. It’s a pretty fun song overall. Now about his Hare Hare Yukai. I just chuckled when I heard the instruments. Is it just me or does it sound more er.. non-masculine than Kyon’s Sister? But eh, it works. Sometimes I feel Daisuke’s out of place somewhere, but whatever. He’s pretty good at singing. Well, except when he suddenly goes BOOOOO~N! (wwwww).
And here’s where things get pretty frickin’ hilarious. Now as a fan of Tomokazu’s voice, I always thought “NO WAI! Can’t imagine him singing.” Well funny thing is I had a Chobits song performed by Tanaka Rie and him, and I didn’t even realize that was him. Yes, the man can sing. Don’t care how low his voice is, he can sing it. Now when I first heard that song I was pretty blown away. Not only is the song fun crazy, but even Aya joins in the chorus. Talk about ownage. Haruhi even makes an outburst in the middle of the song and Kyon says out of frankness, “URUSAI!!!” LMAO. His last line “nagai na…” (that was long) was pretty hilarious.
Here we are. Hare Hare Yukai. I just love how they made this acoustic style. More outbursts and it’s just so laughable but I can’t LOL so much because my stomach is swelling. Something tells me he was acting very sarcastic in this one because during the bridge he was just… moaning and it made me crack.
So what’s next for us? Well for the time being, I think these will be the last ones. Perhaps when the next Haruhi series hits (I’m looking at you KyoAni) we’ll get um… Shamisen or something? Or maybe we really are gonna get Yuki’s Chair. One thing’s for sure though: Not Kunikida, not the Computer club President, not any one of the Agency people, but Taniguchi… Taniguchi’s CD will pwn all the rest (Except maybe Kyon). Wa-wa-wa-wasuremono~

Kyon’s CD was absolutely hilarious. Though I pretty much thought it would be before it was released. Poor guy though lol
I just listened to these. Absolutely hillarious. Kyon’s was just the best; I was just laughing the whole way through XD
[...] So, it’s finally out. Quite likely the last 2 character CDs unless there’s a second series, Koizumi and Kyon hit it big with their own singles. Talk and speculation have been flung around ever since the anime comunity were alerted of these were about to come out and who can blame them. And on finally coming out, there has been some mixed reviews from Youko’s amused (and quite attentive, I had trouble myself picking up some of those points and totally missed the cover alignment thing) post to some shameless but hilarious parodying to just the outright show of dislike for it so really, you gotta check it out to really find out how it is…. But then, here’s my thoughts on it… [...]
I was laughing for the whole 2 songs of Kyon’s CD, it’s too awesome. Loved the acoustic version of Hare Hare Yukai! And the first song “Kentai Life Returns!” plus Haruhi there = made of awesome.
For Itsuki’s CD, loved the first song “Maggaare Spectacle” but it was kinda weird to hear Mikuru and Yuki there too. His version of Hare Hare Yukai was nice and soft, it was cute.

Don’t you have a problem with that as well?” Well, I feel that is a little more acceptable because the conversations between Itsuki, Yuki, and Mikuru happen in seperate parts from the singing parts but it’s still somewhat distracting.
