Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Impressions:

Though it had some things I wasn’t quite expecting, this episode was still great nonetheless. It features scenes with the Mod Souls from the Bounto arc helping out Kon while he’s running away from Grand Fisher. Unlike most, I didn’t really have a problem with the scenes so I don’t have a reason to complain in that regard. However, the animation was very “ugh” in this episode. I don’t know what happened but the artists they used for this episode really loves to draw the characters with pointy chins. I hope the animation quality steps up soon before the really good stuff starts up. The Mod Souls should probably be gone by then since I really don’t see anything more for them to do in the future. They should be written out in a smooth way though (honestly, the only one I really liked was Ririn anyways). Also, do take a look at Danny’s post. He used some manga panels that were used in this week’s episode.

Moving along, this episode dumped a lot of stuff on us which I’m sure more than satisfies those who don’t read the manga. We found out that Ishida’s father, Ryuuken, has Quincy powers. He says that he can restore his son’s powers but Ishida doesn’t believe him…. The next big twist is that of Ichigo’s father, Isshin, being a Shinigami. And a Captain-class one at that. He also reveals another new term to us, Arrancar. I’m sure I don’t have to explain that since Isshin already did in the episode. It’s clear that the Vaizard and Arrancar are opposites and as such, definitely aren’t the best of friends. Shinji is trying to get Ichigo to join their side but Ichigo, as stubborn as ever, refuses. He’d better rethink his decision about that. And just for the record, Grand Fisher is very much a failed Arrancar as pointed out by Isshin. The real Arrancar will make Grand Fisher look like a child in comparison. With that said, there’s a lot to be excited about in the next five to ten episodes.
