Kita ze Inbou! - キタぜ陰謀!

Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto - 02

Episode two was brilliant. I liked the concept of the show prior to it airing and this episode made me fall in love with BKI yet again. The music, the characters, the battles, just everything had me on edge.

Much of the episode had to do with the troupe getting revenge on Hario (the ugly swordsman). He was responsible for the death of Yuyama’s parents. The bastard can use an earth-splitting technique which Akidzuki shows us is useless when there’s water around. To repay his debts to the troupe, Akidzuki helps them draw Hario out into a marshy area and they proceed to kill him (with a little outside interference aka a sniper). The episode ends with Akidzuki supposedly leaving the town and we’re shown that the troupe has a new play that’ll debut in episode three.

Yuuyama has captured my heart from the first episode and further strengthened her grip on it throughout episode 2. Seeing her past made me smile and feel sad all at the same time. And don’t get me started on her beauty (I love her short hair). Sword skills, acting ability, beauty…what else can you ask for from a woman? Well, I’m officially a Yuyama fanboy.

Akidzuki was as badass as he was in the first episode but was given more time to show it off. I was glad to see that his intelligence during battle is top-notch which was portrayed brilliantly in his initial skirmish with Hario at the temple and then later on in the fields at the end of the episode.

I can’t wait for more BKI. This show has me waiting constantly to see more and more and to hear its wonderful music over and over.
